Firm Heritage
In 1947, our firm's founder, Robert E. Farr, began practicing law in Tioga County. He partnered with Attorney Rudolph J. van der Hiel in 1968 forming "Farr & van der Hiel". Through the years, the law firm underwent several evolutions and after Attorney Robert W. Chappell joined the firm in 1995, it became "Law Offices of van der Hiel & Chappell" . Upon Attorney van der Hiel's retirement in 2005, Attorney Jeffrey S. Loomis joined the practice following 13 years in Wellsboro and the "Law Offices of van der Hiel, Chappell & Loomis" was formed. Attorney Terra R. Koernig then came aboard in 2010 and the firm became "Loomis|Koernig" in 2014. Attorney Chappell continues serving clients in an of counsel status with the office. Although the names have changed, the dedication and ideals have remained the same - to provide our community with experienced legal guidance and representation in a wide variety of legal matters.
